History
Juin Otekah Osit’yi is a French and Native American raised in the Cahto tribe in Northern California. Her father remarried after his first wife died at a young age from cervical cancer, with Juin’s mother. Juin has two half siblings, an older sister four years older than her and and the second oldest is a brother who is two years older than her. They grew up in a loving family, her mother was an only child so it was natural for them to stay within the reservation.
Juin is named after her Mother’s grandmother, Juin, and Father’s great great grandmother, Otekah. She grew up with a loving family in the reservation in Northern California. Not everything was easy for her, being of mixed blood she would often times get bullied or feel less. But her spirits were always high. Her father is a Law-man in the Reservation and her mother teaches French in the local school and Archeology in the near by college. They had met when her father went to UCLA with the elders of the tribe to discuss California reservation politics with a few departments of the university.
Following in her parents footsteps, Juin went to UCLA and is doing a double Major, Anthropology and Journalism. Juin is very passionate, and a bit of a thrill seeker. Accepted at the age of 16, and is about to turn 19 and graduate with high honors. While studying, she also works as an intern-reporter in the LA Times and writes papers for other notable news outlets across the country.
