Character Creation:
Please take a moment to copy our character sheet.
Creation is going to take place in multiple, short steps that are designed to lead you into character without too much hassle. As such, you will be asked to make decisions directly about not just your character, but the “type” of character you are going to play. Think of this character creation like a “Choose your own adventure” style creation!
Your first decision is going to be about your species.
There is no one way to start a character sheet. You can start with the name, and work your way down from the beginning of the template down. Some people prefer to choose their species and go through the system parts- some people prefer to start with a history or magic- there is no "wrong" way to start your character sheet. Our guide is set up to start with the beginning of the template- and working down, which means "system" stuff comes last. It may mean a little back and forth as you make decisions that affect other parts of your sheet.
Ultimately? Your character is your character. Do what makes sense for you!
Who are you?
When your character begins the game they are from earth. Typically people pulled to Harpeah are going to be between the ages of 16 and 40. Very few are children, or older then forty- though there are always exceptions to every rule. Your character, on Earth, had a family, had a life, went to school or had a job- they had some function- even if that was a homeless would-be-troll under a bridge. Because of certain options you can take at creation- you might even have some hint that you will be getting magic- small tricks or a ties to your element... You may work for a government agency or be a media reporter exploring the strange disappearances of the last year.
You should have some idea of who your character is on Earth- and be prepared to play it. They might be a parent, with children of their own, or just a listless wanderer. The fact is, your character has roots- and should be reflected in character.
You should have about a paragraph or two, ultimately about who you are as a person, how you feel, what your family life is like, cultures, traditions, anything that helps ground your character in the "Real Life" of Earth.
Why?
Because it's all going to change. Something will happen with in the first bits of being in character, a thread or two, and your character's life is going to change- Forever.
So at the beginning of creation as the "Gods" of our characters, we see a hint of their path to come- that at some point in the future they will take on an additional species and magic, that they will take their skills, knowledges, feelings, traditions and cultures, into a different world then the one they are used too.
This is all reflected on the first part of your sheet.
Devils in the Details
When this goes into your character sheet it's distilled into simple phrases, sometimes not even full sentences... Somethings, at creation - Don't even get filled out!!! --
Your character sheet template has all these details, I've replaced them with my "Sample" as an example of what we are looking for. Yours does not need to be exactly the same.

Element: This will be filled out later in the process
Occupation: Nell is a College Student at Cal State Fullerton, California CA and a part time Web Developer for various small companies and individuals.
Physical Appearance:
(Your image can be a drawing, a sketch, a photograph, whatever. It can be a real person... or anime... or manga.. or whatever. I personally just enjoy using 'art' because it's the medium I'm comfortable with when designing characters and how they look. )
Eye Color: Blue-Green
Hair Color: Blond, with the tips dyed green.
Hair Length/Typical Hairstyle: When it's down, it reaches her waist, however it's typically piled up in a high pony tail with bangs. It's slightly wavy regardless of style.
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 132 lbs
Skin color: A golden-rosey tan.
Any noticeable marks, scars, tattoos, piercings, species/racial qualities: Nothing of note, except one triangle shaped scar on her left knee.
History
(I will probably adjust this as I go on making my character sheet... but..) Nell was a pretty regular kid, went to school, was bullied because she was small, then developed early and grew like a weed. She was different. She just had that air about her that said she was different. She was also a little to gentle for public school. When she hit highschool her parents divorced and her father let her go into homeschooling. She excelled at her studies and started college early- which is why, at 19 shes got enough credits at her college to be a JR.
Her major is child-development with a minor in agriculture. She does web development for local businesses and her fathers small gaming store located in Yorba Linda, Ca. She works there part time too, but only when other people can't be found to cover shifts- so it's rare that she's in the store. Her sweet nature hasn't soured through out her life but she's a little shy and tends to hang back when others charge forward. She's never had a boyfriend, or siblings. Her mother moved out to New York to try to become a broadway actress in her twilight years.
The next thing to really hammer out is to get the Species down--- > That's the next step.
