Gaining EXP
Characters gain XP in a multitude of ways- but mostly they gain XP by simply doing a lot of stuff in character.
We believe that it's not about "quantity" of posts, but "Quality" so while a back and forth thread that fills up 5 pages of a thread may be fun, it may not be more then two people having a long, drawn out conversation about the weather. Plus, we kind of 'expect' you to be active- and checking the board not just once or twice a week. So no, you don't get points "just" for posting- that's an expectation, not a thing to be rewarded for.
When you first go to Harpeah a few things will happen to your character, including one stat that will be "highlighted". That "Highlighted" stat will be the one that your character is the best at, and when it's used five times for "legit" reasons (... Choosing Charm and Seducing your way through an entire city will not net you 4000 exp..) You "gain" 1 exp.
You can also gain EXP by doing the following:
Monthly Rewards:
Monthly Awards are given out at the first of the month.
One Point- Active Members Post 30 posts a month- total.
One Point - Journal Your Adventure. This journal is a written account your character writes, blogs, or otherwise records. It's purely optional, but it helps keep your "character's" adventures recorded so over time you have a running record of what you have, and haven't done.
One Point - Inspired Roleplaying- not just one scene but a character that is constantly talked about and a magnet to things going on is a powerful force in the game and make it enjoyable for everyone.
One Point - Heroism- Yes, we award points for those times your character really behaves as a hero. A hero is someone who risks it all to let friends, or even strangers escape from disaster or death. A hero is someone who does try to do the right thing. If a hero manages to act heroically even though it costs him / her something (perhaps even their life) they should be rewarded. Don't get the idea that 'acting' heroic with the intent to get this experience point is like doing one GOOD deed before Santa comes to wipe away all the evil you do the rest of the chapter. Stupidity and Suicidal behavior also will not be rewarded- as that isn't heroism!
One Point - Success. Your character achieved their original "goals" in character they set out to accomplish- even if those were minor ones that have changed into major goals. Your working toward your character's ultimate destiny!
One point- Danger: The character has survived against harsh odds and grave dangers- You didn't die or go to Jigoku. You managed to survive where others before you have failed.
One point- Wisdom: The Player, and thus the character, came up with some brilliant plan or even a spontaneous strategy that enabled a Clan to survive when they normally would of failed otherwise- perhaps experienced the dreaded full-clan wipe out.
One Point- Social: The character actively tried to meet others, perhaps even started to form their own clan- maybe even consisting of a player character or two! An extra experience point is given to the clan leader who has 4 player characters in his or her clan. (trust me you think this is easy? It's not. that's EXP going to be well earned. )
Staff members get 1 extra experience point for their character for helping story lines and running scenes. That also represents their faces and experiences because they have had to deal with Storyteller Rage.
MAX EXP a month
Players can receive a max of 5 exp a month. "Member of the Month" is the only character allowed to take a max of 8.
