It has been a trying day for Lift. Nothing to do with the shadow people, the shadow people where cool. No, Lift is now deeply concerned about how this new world, Lift has found himself in, operates.
Lift has now communicated with a primitive but sentient sword that is programmed to achieve destruction. The Sword was forged with the noble goal of protecting anything good and destroying all evil in an attempted to create balance. The understanding that most fail to achieve, including the Sword, is balance comes from a true mix of everything. True balance comes from a continual dance between, Law and Chaos, Light and Dark, Good and Evil and never stays in perfect balance but is always in flux. Fluctuations that obit around ideal balance but can never stay there. This is why taking actions to create perfect balance is a flawed strategy. The world is full of noise and activity generated by the actions of heroes and everyday people. Taking more actions in the world creates more noise and turbulence that makes the balance less stable. The reality is, citizens of the world can't create balance with action but have to give balance the opportunity to exist. The lack of capabilities and an inability to understand nuance is the primary reason why the Sword and many heroes are utterly incapable of creating lasting balance.
Issues around creating balance isn't concerning to Lift compared to the fact that flawed sentient beings are infused elemental power. Element power and amplifies actions that create turbulence and hold grave implications for the world as whole. Sword the claims that life doesn't fade but is continually reborn. Lift believes life owes it's existence to the elements and if the elements are imbalanced life will cease to exist. The best case scenario under seriously destabilized element is life being able to lay dormant in the depths of space waiting of a balance of elements can rekindle life. Yet how likely is it that the elements can become that imbalanced really. Well Lift was told my the sword that rocks, and presumably other elements, have memories. Rocks remember the mountains and rivers they came for and hold a spirit as such. Now it seems so obvious to Lift why the earth around him held so much information. This wasn't Lift's intuition but an actual conversation with the earth and Lift never realized this until today. To have a conversation with the spirit of an element means the element has to have program and personality not unlike the sword. Chills spike through Lift's entire body as this realization takes hold.
Lift takes off, as an Owl, flying toward the volcano in Sol, which now has a great deal of murmuring coming from it that Lift hasn't heard until now. Lift must start to figure out the programming and personality of the elements of this world because not understanding how the elements react to actions of others spells certain Armageddon.
